Introduction

We’re excited to share the journey of refurbishing one of our most special bikes yet, named 'Yoda'. This green Kent Comfort 26 bike has undergone a transformation to serve our community better.

Project Overview

The CFC program aims to refurbish donated bikes and distribute them within underserved communities. Our goal is to provide free or low-cost transportation, encourage physical activity, and foster a healthier community. 'Yoda' is a shining example of this mission in action.

The Journey of 'Yoda'

Background:

  • Donation: 'Yoda', a green Kent Comfort 26 bike, was donated to the CFC program in April 2024.
  • Condition: When we received 'Yoda', it was in need of significant repairs, including new tires, a fresh coat of paint, and tuning of the gears and brakes.
  • Refurbishment Process:

  • Initial Assessment: Our team conducted a thorough inspection to identify all areas needing repair.
  • Parts Replacement: We sourced and replaced the tires, brake pads, and gear shifters.
  • Painting: The bike’s original green color was enhanced with a fresh coat of paint to give it a new lease on life.
  • Final Tuning: Our skilled volunteers fine-tuned the gears and brakes to ensure smooth and safe riding.
